Engagement Entry 3 - Veil

As I blogwalk through the b2bs blog, something that really caught my eyes was their DIY. Gile lah, macam kedai punya kot! It got me all fired up wanting to have something that my own hand has built for the coming ceremony.

And before you need to read any further, I’ll just spare you the reading and let you know straight away. I plan to make my own veil. Ye, sila google DIY veil dan tengok segala tutorial kat situ to get inspired the way I have.

And, kalau malas, I’ve included the veils that started everything.

Hahahaha, cantik gila kan? Told you so.

There was only one thing, though. Telemachus and I saw a very sweet veil the other day. Perfect for my colour, it was almost heaven sent and I was grateful that Telemachus yang lelaki aku yang perempuan, sebab kalau dia perempuan he would have certainly clutched the veil to his chest and won’t let go until he payed for it, hahahaha. Yes, that was how much he liked it.

My issue was this: it was too nice. Nice as in baik, sopan. Tak badass langsung veil tu. My guess was that it’d look pretty in real life but the camera won’t be able to catch all the fine details. And my camera agreed.

So it was decided, we’re not buying the veil, we’re (I’m) DIYing.

The only ‘thing’ that came with that was that it sure did tightened my budget. B2b lain spent around RM50 – RM80 to DIY the veil. Of course, that would be a good saving since veil yang disurvey is around RM100+ RM200+, and sewa pun lebih kurang macam tu je harga. Tu pun kalau veil tu kosong, bukan yang meriah dan gung ho punya.

But the sweet veil that Telemachus  tiana did not buy was only RM50. Murah. Of course it wouldn’t make too many sense to spend RM50 untuk barang-barang nak buat veil, kan?

Telemachus        :    kalau u beli veil tu, RM50 je and tak payah pikir nak jahit-jahit lagi
Tiana                     :   ........

And so, that was how I’ve arrived at this point. The point of DIYing the veil at the ceiling price of RM50. We had some sort of a dare, that if I fail to impress him with the result, I’ll give in and buy the veil. Memang lah, lagi untung sebenarnya beli veil tu. Lagi untung, senang, (maybe) economical, etc etc tapi hehe, you should have stopped me when I was browsing thru b2b punya DIYs.

And hey, tak cool lah, semua nya beli. Biar la ada sentimental value sikit. Hehe.

Besides, my rebuttal speech was this (peh rebuttal tiana, kau ingat ni apa, piala debat?) I’m only DIYing for the engagement. Kalau jadi tak cantik sangat, takpe lah, nikah nanti memang tak buat dah. Kan bertunang je pun. Tapi kalau cantik? Boleh la buat untuk nikah, sanding, bertandang, semua pun boleh. Translation: jimat duit hahahahaha

Hence, the dare is on *kecikkan mata, give a cold stare at telemachus* wish me luck! I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Engaggment Entry 2 - Baju Tunang

And so the hunt begins. The Masterplan Edisi Baju Bertunang was this: die on your feet looking for one, and then, go to KL untuk cari sampai jumpa.

Ye kawan-kawan, isi tersirat di situ adalah ini: i won’t be making my own engagement dress. There’s no time for that. I don’t know any tailor in Penang that would whip me a good one within that short a time. Especially because I wanted a chiffon baju, nothing less. Oiii, nak cari kain lagi, and ey,  susah tahu nak jahit chiffon! Mahal tak payah mention lah kan. I don’t want to be spending a lot for engagement. Unless it has a Parental Support : Buy With Love And We’ll Cover The Damage stamp, my plan is to go simple. {mama, papa are you reading this hahahaha.}

Can you say cheapskate, now? :P

And so that was how Telemachus and I begin to search for baju bertunang. Bajus after bajus, shops after shops. Even Telemachus needed some time warming up to my idea of peach. And he knows me intimately for six years already zzzzzz. Tapi takpe, aku paham. Dia kata apa yang aku suka, memang semuanya pelik-pelik. Orang susah nak faham. Nak suka apatah lagi.

And then, as simple as that, my baju stood looking at us, begging at me to try it on. Need I remind you more, due to the colour, finding it was such a hassle. I had my standards down. Wayyy down. All I wanted was a soft-each, chiffon baju kurung moden. A bit too simple for engagement, but I plan to wear it in other events as well so yeah, nak fancy schmancy sangat buat apa kan?

Ada satu je lah sekarang ni. It REALLY IS too simple. Too unexciting. Pfffft, now I know what they mean when they say you can’t really please a woman. But I guess, its okay. I plan to bling it later. So wish me luck on that, too.

Ps: nasib baik tak mencari sampai ke KL. Phew!

Engagement Entry 1 - Theme Colour

So I’ve decided. Nak terkejut-terkejut tengok ticker time is over. Its time for action! Hahahaha. So before anything is planned, of course, the theme colour has to be decided first.

And it is this: peach – brown – cream.

Ok tak, ok tak?

I know a lot of people doubt my choice of colour (peach). Especially due to my, ahem, not-so radiant skin tone, hahahaha. Itu lah pasal tiana, dah tau gelap, gatal lagi masuk palapes dulu-dulu. Ha, sekarang, padan muka! It hardly does matter, though. It’s what I want. Kalau betul nanti muka Nampak tenggelam dalam gambar pun, I will take it as a lesson to be learnt (and to be less stubborn sobs)

And so, the journey begins.

Before aku start mencari, aku rasa aku kena siapkan mental dulu. Because the kind of peach that I wanted [ see suffix, et al ] does not come easy, of course, dalam 2 jam mencari tu, kalau jumpa 2,3 useful item pun dah kira bagus.

But then again, it hardly does matter. If I fail, I will take it as a lesson I’m willing to learn. Tapi eh, ape pasal tak optimistik langsung ni?

 Ah, tak kire lah. Hahaha.

Suffix: The Kind Of Peach That Tiana Wants:

Supersoft peach, baby peach, a soft peach with warm undertones, eathy breezy softtttt peach, if you catch my drift yet. NOT the kind peach that our mamma likes when they were young (hahaha ampun aunties, ampun!!) NOT the peach that is the ‘merah menjahang’ kind. And NOT the peach that the wearer fancies herself as fair as the cloud maiden, nonono. I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it yeyeaaah.

Adakah kaler ini terlalu susah untuk aku cari? Is it too leceh, cerewet, high-demand a colour? But most importantly, will it translate well in the picture as well as it translated in my mind later on?

I dunno man, your guess is as good as mine. Heh.

11th September 2011

aku ingat lagi masa kecik-kecik tengok home alone. yeah yeah the one with macaulay culkin innit, man. one of the scenes that made the most impression to me was the scene yang macaulay ada kat rooftop of a building, throwing bricks at the orang jahat. sampai biol kot!

that was 11th September 2011, to me.

aku membayangkan untuk setiap benda tekezut yang aku dapat, macaulay culkin baling brick kat dahi aku. dush! dush! dush! seriously, i don't think i can actually recognize my face anymore, thanks to all the bricks surprises.

but it doesn't matter now. THE GAME IS ON. i am getting engaged in 1 month, and i have nothing prepared.  scared sh*tless, much?
